Hanuman in Buddhist Literature

OM SRI MAHA MARKATAAYA NAMAHA.

Rama appears in the Buddhist text is one way or the other and He is specifically mentioned in the Jathaka stories. Though in the early Buddhist Literature, Hanuman is not specifically mentioned but the monkeys are ofcourse found indulging in human performance, both good as well as evil. The presence of Hanuman is rarely found in such stories though the presence of monkeys in one form or the other is commonly found in the Buddhist text. Some of the Jathaka stories which relate to the monkeys are given below: -

3) Adiccupatthana Jathaka
4) Kalaya Mutthi Jathaka
5) Tanduka Jathaka
6) Sumsumara Jathaka
7) Garahita Jathaka

10) Mahakapi Jathaka
11) Aramadusaka Jathaka
12) Dasaratha Jathaka
13) Sumagga Jathaka
14) Kumbhila Jathaka
