Dipena sadhyathe sarvam: Chaitra, Vaisakha months are called vasantha kalam. As well Aswayuja and Kartika are known as sarath kaalam. This sarath and vasantha kaalams are known as Yama danshtrika kaalam.
सरद्वसन्त नामानौ प्राणिनां दुर्गमालिह यमदंष्ट्रिके
So in this kaalam (period) surprising deaths are heard. To get rid of this dosham we should worship LORD YAMA and do DEEPA DAANAM to brahman. In this process the below written sloka is recited.
यमाय धर्मराजाय मृत्यवे चान्तकाय च
औदुम्बराय दध्याय नीलाय परमेष्टिने ॥
These deepas are known as BALI DEEPAS. These are to get rid of APAMRUTYU DOSHAMS.
